Abstract

Abstract
The suction dredges sand can be modified as suction dredges tin material that will be used for offshore
waters with depths greater than 50 m. To fullfil the dredges requirement, some of equipments will be modified by
extending the ladder suction dredges sand to the desired capacity. This research will modify depth of 40 m to
depth of 66 m. The dimensions and geometry of the pontoon and the existing equipments are not be changed, the
existing ladder that have length 40 m is be changed by ladder that have length 66 m. Adding support equipment
and changing ladder construction cause changes in dredges stability so that it must be analyzed back. The
analysis will identify the existing equipment, calculate the estimated weight of the equipment, calculate the
additional equipment and reference point based on the equipment position and determine the center of mass
point (COG) using the method of moments. From the analysis it was found that the angle of heel to starboard
dredges modification is the same with the existing suction dredges. The angle is 0,2 that causes the
modification dredges tilt toward port the ship. In addition, the righting momen (GZ) of modification dredges is
lower than the existing dredges and do not meet the IMO standards. From the analysis, the neccesary
modification is to change the geometry and dimensions of the pontoon to get stability and fullfil the IMO
standards.
